Funding your wallet and taking assets back out is covered in Deposits and withdrawals.
What it is
$ATOM you have staked with a validator cannot be sent to anyone as it is. The Liquid Staking Module turns it into tokenized shares - a token that is still staked with the same validator, but can be transferred like any other. Those can be given away in a public chat, and the claimers receive them still staked.
Everything here is Cosmos Hub and $ATOM only. Every command names the validator the stake belongs to, because shares of different validators are different tokens and cannot be mixed.
The bot calls it staked $ATOM; wallets and explorers call the same thing tokenized shares.
All the instructions are also built into the bot. Send either of the following to @ibc_cosmobot in DM:
Getting staked $ATOM into Cosmobot
Cosmobot cannot do it for you - it has to be signed from the wallet holding your staked $ATOM. You can do it for example in Moonkitt:
- Connect the wallet holding your staked $ATOM at app.moonkitt.com
- Find your validator's row and click Liquefy in the My Solid Stake column, then choose the amount
- The shares appear in the My Liquid Stake column. Open the dropdown next to Solidify there and click Send
- Send them to your Cosmos Hub deposit address
That is the same address you deposit $ATOM to - there is no separate address for shares.
Checking what you hold
Send the following to Cosmobot in DM:
It lists one line per validator with the total you hold there, and a button per validator:
Your staked $ATOM
▫️ 120 $ATOM staked with Silk Nodes
▫️ 45 $ATOM staked with Crosnest
▫️ 12 $ATOM staked with StakeLab
Tap a validator below to send or withdraw it.
Validator names link to their Mintscan page. Two validators can share a name, so where that happens both get a short address appended.
Tapping a validator posts its cosmosvaloper1... address and all three commands with that address
already filled in, ready to copy. Your deposit address is shown in the same view when you hold none
yet.
You never see or type record ids. Tokenized shares exist on chain as individual records, and a balance is usually several of them; Cosmobot groups them per validator and picks which records to draw from itself.
Fees
Creating a giveaway costs a little $ATOM from your Cosmobot wallet. It pays for moving the shares into escrow and prepays the later distribution transaction, so keep some $ATOM there.
If nobody claims, that prepaid amount comes back to you together with the shares.
Staked $ATOM cannot pay its own gas, so ordinary $ATOM is what has to be in the wallet.
Creating a giveaway
It is the same #giveaway command used for coins, with stakedatom where the currency goes. Send
it in a public chat:
For instance:
gives away 10 $ATOM staked with that validator to the first 5 unique telegram users, 2 $ATOM each.
The amount comes first and the number of people last, exactly like a coin giveaway
(#giveaway 10 atom 5).
<validator address> is the cosmosvaloper1... address, not the validator's name - tap a
validator in #stakedbalances to get it.
Up to 100 people, and the amount has to be large enough that every one of them gets something.
There is no elite or validator-restricted variant of this yet.
Tipping to one person
A giveaway is for a chat. To send staked $ATOM to one specific person, reply to their message with #tip - see Staked $ATOM tipping.
How claiming works
First come, first served. Claimers have to be present in the group where the giveaway is held.
The giveaway is distributed once everyone has claimed or after 3 hours, whichever comes first. Anything nobody claimed goes back to the creator in the same transaction.
What winners get
Every winner receives a DM naming what they got, with the #withdraw command already filled in and a button to their staked balances. The chat post is updated with the list of claimers.
The shares are held in the winner's Cosmobot wallet, still staked. #withdraw moves them to their own wallet, where they can be redeemed - see Deposits and withdrawals.
Until they are redeemed, the staking rewards go to whoever tokenized the $ATOM rather than to whoever is holding the shares, so redeem sooner rather than later.
Amounts
Amounts are in whole $ATOM with up to 6 decimals, the same as giving away $ATOM. Use a dot for
decimals; a comma is refused rather than guessed at, so 1,5 does not become 1.5 or 15.
A share is worth slightly less than one $ATOM - the exact ratio depends on the validator's slashing history - so what the bot displays is very slightly more than the $ATOM you would get back on redemption.
Troubleshooting
"You don't hold any staked $ATOM with that validator" - the validator address is right but you hold nothing of theirs. Send #stakedbalances to see which validators you actually hold.
"You only have X $ATOM staked with that validator, and asked to send Y" - what it says. Nothing was sent.
"You need a little $ATOM in your Cosmobot wallet to pay the transaction fee" - send some ordinary $ATOM to your Cosmos Hub deposit address. Staked $ATOM cannot pay its own gas.
"... is not a validator address" - you typed the validator's name instead of the address. It has
to be the cosmosvaloper1... address. Tap a validator in #stakedbalances to get it.
"You don't hold that much staked $ATOM with that validator any more" - the balance changed between the command and the transaction. Nothing was sent.
Nothing shows in #stakedbalances after depositing - shares sent to any address other than your Cosmos Hub one do not arrive. Check you used the address from #stakedbalances or #tipmenu.
